How do materials become woven into our lives and come to carry our memories?
In Manipuri, Hakchang means the physical body, while Polang refers to a traditional bamboo basket or hamper used for storing rice, vegetables, and other household items.
The movement-based performance presented at Palazzo Diedo imagines a relationship between body and material that is based on listening, respect, and mutual transformation. The body does not dominate the material, nor does the material remain an object. Instead, they shape and adorn one another, growing together through touch, weight, texture, and movement.
Through this work, folklore, mythology, symbolism, artisan knowledge, and traditional practices converge. The body becomes a meeting place between human and material, forest and craft, ancestral knowledge and contemporary performance.
