Joseph Kosuth / interviews
JOSEPH KOSUTH
Interview
In the video, the artist reflects on his relationship with Venice, a city where he has lived and worked for many years, describing it as a place in which local and international dimensions coexist in a unique way, within a historical stratification that continues to shape the present. At the core of the conversation is one of the central themes of his practice: meaning is never stable, but shifts each time it is used. For Kosuth, every intervention alters what it interprets, and language becomes a tool through which to observe how meaning is constructed through the relationship between experience, context and memory.
CODOGNATO & RISPOLI

In the video, the two curators trace the key moments of Kosuth's practice: from the site-specific installation A Chain of Resemblance, which wraps the entrance hall of Casa dei Tre Oci with an appropriated text by Michel Foucault, to the Proto-Investigations of the 1960s, including One and Three Mirrors and Clock (One and Five), through to the anonymous interventions in public space of the 1970s. A journey spanning over fifty years of conceptual practice, showing how Kosuth's investigation of language has taken on different forms each time.
