Palazzo Diedo - Berggruen Arts & Culture is pleased to present the latest work by artist Piero Golia (Naples, 1974), Untitled (floor). After a lengthy period of development last year, during which the artist allowed the viewer witness the performative "wait" for the creation of his installation, the site-specific work conceived for the floor of the grand central hall on the ground floor of Palazzo Diedo is finally revealed. Adopting the traditional Venetian terrazzo technique, this piece concludes the series of permanent installations that began with the JANUS exhibition in 2024.
Italian artist Piero Golia, a Los Angeles resident since 2002, is a sculptor of situations. His works - which sometimes take on a physical form, often on an architectural scale, or an evanescent, performative, and immaterial one - are statements aimed at expanding the possibilities of art. In Naples, Golia studied chemical engineering, learning to transform raw materials into powerful sources of energy. Golia’s works are included in major public collections and have been exhibited in leading international museums, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Witte de With, Rotterdam; and MoMA PS1, New York. His work was exhibited in the Italian Pavilion at the 53rd Venice Biennale.
